How should I package my insured PC?
So you sold your PC and now it's time to pack it up for shipping - if you haven't followed the guide from our YouTube video then please check it out or adhere to these basic requirements:
- Support the PC Internals - PC parts have gotten heavier over the years, and it's now a requirement to ensure the GPU and CPU cooler have proper support. The best way to support these items is with rigid packing material such as Instapaks, foam, or even makeshift cardboard supports.
- Ship PCs standing up or glass side facing up if the PC is laid down - If you ship a PC glass side down, it will almost always end up with shattered glass! This can also lead to insurance denying your claim!
- Double Boxing - Many sellers elect to double box their PCs, putting an extra layer of protection, albeit at additional cost to ship
It's always a good idea to take a photo showing how your item was packaged in the event it arrives damaged - this can expedite an insurance claim if we are able to show how it was originally shipped!
How should I package my insured components?
While it is less common, components can also be damaged in shipping.
Here are some helpful tips to package your item to ensure it is fully covered by insurance in the event of damage:
- Fill any void space - If a component is properly packaged, you should not hear it shuffle around much, if at all, when the package is shaken. If you can hear it rattling, try to fill any of the void space with crumpled newspaper, bubble wrap, kraft paper, or other packing materials.
- Use an appropriately sized box - Using a box properly sized for your item reduced the void space and material required to pack it
- Take photos of how you packed the shipment - This can expedite a claim if we can show that the item was appropriately packed before it was shipped
- Get a drop off receipt - For small items, this can be especially important in the event the item tracking doesn't update - having a record that you dropped it off can be critical if the item tracking does not update
What if my item is signed for but the buyer says it was never delivered?
If your buyer suspects the item was signed for by someone unauthorized or delivered to the wrong address, have them contact support using support@jawa.gg.
If they suspect the item was stolen from their door, they will be required to file a police report and provide a copy of the report.
If you used manual shipping, you will need to file a claim with your respective insurance or shipping carrier.
If you used a Jawa provided shipping label, your payout may be issued once all required documentation for the insurance has been received and any open missing mail investigation's closure.
